The progressive rise in the estimated number of subfamilies in a colony 
started more than a decade ago, but jumped significantly the last 
decade.  Not a very newsworthy item for the never ending superficial 
popular reports, but it has many ramifications for understanding colony 
dynamics and for breeding and selection.

Many findings in the last decade have been confirmatory, it would 
seem.
