Another reason I do feed pollen patties is that it prolongs the brood rearing in late summer after last pollen. Our challenge is the August frost kills off most flowering plants but we still have about 2 months of non-winter weather (for here) to stretch things out. I see the internal brood temperature raise back up to ~35C and steady out while the patty lasts. However I will not go beyond early September.
