Which bees go with the swarm and which stay behind

>To my understanding worker bees are photo sensitive negative up to about 12 days and then they become photo sensitive positive. These less than 12 day old bees tend to be nurse bees which would lead me to think they are somewhat attached to the young larvae. These factors would suggest to me that the make up of a swarm is older and not younger. The only reason I can image that the question matters is the age demographics of the two groups and how this distribution would impact survival possibilities.

>Some workers that do swarm do seem to return to the hive. Especially if the swarm pauses for any length of time.
