> I was thinking more of the starch in the sugar left over and mixed up to make syrup.
This raises the question of a bee's ability to break down longer carbohydrates than sucrose, as any starch, certainly potato starch, can be broken down into sucrose and glucose by a human's enzymes, not sure about bee digestive enzymes.
I dunno. Cute girl in Biochem, she was distracting.
But, if bees can't digest the tiny amount of starch mixed into the larger mass of liquid feed, I guess it passes though them as indigestible "ash".
Is the amount de minimis? Can't say how much sugar to how much paper is recovered, that will vary.
