Because it is a lot of work? I give my bees some wind protection and ensure their hives are tilted so moisture can run out. A bit of insulation. But then I leave them bee.
Some people like to mess around a lot more. That is fine, but for me, keep them dry and keep the breezes down. They can manage the cold and I don’t want them to eat up the stores too fast, because they’re warmish, or get wet.
