Why would we need to forego anything?  A smaller population could easily be healthier - and probably would be with less pollution, stress etc.  Our NHS here is at breaking point with insufficient doctors, nurses etc.

The only thing that we would have to forego would be having large numbers of children.  I am not suggesting that we need to kill off large numbers of the population!
