Stole this from the inventory thread but very germane to to our situation in the dry, dry dry western states. We in eastern WA have had less than an inch of rain since March. The spring flow of Hawthorn and Locust, what little there was, went to brood building. We are now entering our "normal" dry season with almost no ground moisture so no hope of the usual summer flows of thistle, purple vetch and prairie wildflowers. The girls are licking the skillet with lots of empty drawn comb. The only yard of mine with any extractible honey is on a large canola planting and I don't even like canola, crystalizes way too fast and not a prime flavor profile IMHO.
Dire days ahead for the western industry.
