>> Is there a sustainable form of non-migratory beekeeping without almond

I live in a rural escarpment area visited by many tourists from Toronto & surrounding Golden Horseshoe area & normally sell my honey from an honour table in our driveway. So I have an excellent location especially in autumn when the trees are most colourful. Because of Covid I didn’t want to attract the normal throngs to my table so I only responded to those who contacted me by phone & email & who made an appointment for day & time to visit as I didn’t want to have a crowd. I have attracted a large group of repeat customers over the years and they obliged me by all, except one, wearing masks on arrival. I normally sell out my 10-20 colony crop in November. The last few bottles of the 2020 crop sold in early February 21.

I have a question for the group. Is low price part of the reason for my sales success? At EAS in Guelph in 2016(I think it was), I spoke to several US beeks who all said the price they charged retail for small quantities of bottled honey was $9.99US/pound. At today's exchange rate that’s $12.50C. We are metric here so I sell 1kg(2.2pounds) bottles for $15C, about $2 above chain store price for most expensive commercial honey.
