I see the same thing in my market. A small operation came compete against a bulk producer with appealing labeling and an attractive point of purchase display. The retailers welcome local products and will even help them sell more.  But one thing that will not happen as a small producer, is excessive profits - at least not in the market where I sell. I stopped calculating cost of goods sold long ago because that’s one pain nobody builds resistance to.
