In my experience, a credit card is the best way to remove an imbeded
stinger (or splinter). Tough ones require two.
Using the flat edge of the credit card, scrape the skin, stroking it
almost, to work the stinger/spinter back out the hole it came from. I can
usually use this to get just enough out to pull it with tweezers.
The two credit card trick involves pressing one down against the skin just
on the other side of the "entry site", depressing down. Then use the other
credit card the same way as identified above. It creates a "pinch" in the
skin that helps work the stinger out, rather than further into the skin.
If both of these fail, the credit card can be used for a trip to your local
"doc-in-a-box" to remove it professionally. Although, depending on your
insurance, you may need more than two.
