I always assumed people would measure the effectiveness of their chosen treatment vs assuming it was successful. I have been using screened bottom boards for the last 6 years and have always cleaned my insert before treatment (OAV) and would count the drop at 24h and 48h. The 1st time I treated with OAV I counted every 24h for 5 days to understand how long the OA would have a noticeable influence on the mite kill. I tend to use a round of OAV as my mite count vs alcohol washes as they have always been zero or below 1%. Not an exact science but when I compare the drops from a weak hive to a strong hive I get a good "gut feel" of how bad they are. I found this link and attached tool (estimating infestation rates based on OAV drops) interesting. - https://www.mitecalculator.com/
