Along with others, I often can't tell where I've been stung five minutes
later, although I do get most of the stingers out pretty quickly. A while
ago I had arthritic pain at the base of my left thumb and thought I'd try
giving myself five stings at the painful spot and letting them stay in
place. Ten minutes later I was grimacing and holding my breath trying to
tolerate the pain from the stings. At that point I removed the stingers and
went looking for an ice pack.
