My point was that they are indeed California-adapted. So that does not
support the hypothesis that the formation of diutinus bees for wintering
varies greatly between regional stocks of European-type Apis mellifera in
the U.S.
That doesn't mean that stocks can't adapt for survival in cold climates.
All I'm saying is that Calif bees can apparently go into long-term diutinus
state.
