From A.I. Root’s autobiography which was republished in 1984:

“...Wind was one of the early sources of power for Root’s printing press and saw mills. A. I.’s eldest son, Ernest, professed that, even as an old man, high winds at night made him nervous. The reason being: as a young man, A. I. would roust him out of bed at odd hours to take advantage of a brisk wind...”
