The sting stimulates the body to produce its own cortisone.
Certainly not a scientific study, but a year ago I had a bothersome floater in one eye that had lasted for a couple of years. A bee crawl up under my glasses and give me a sting just above that eye. Within 24 hours the floater was greatly diminished – not gone – but I pleasantly changed. Was it the sting? I know of nothing else significant that might have affected the floater. Getting a honeybee sting is not all bad – and only about a 2 on the Schmidt scale.
