>They placed hives 13 feet off the ground and 33 feet apart! How can anyone call these steps modest or even practical in an actual apiary? Unless they are suggesting some other configuration, which their results would then not be valid for.


Hopefully, you guys can sort out that drifting figure but it didn't make understanding the study any clearer to me. I surmised that the different heights (.2 , 6.5 and 13 feet) in the round configurations impeded drifting and that makes perfect sense but offers nothing of value in practical terms.  I'll be with Keith this coming Saturday while he speaks to our local club and I'll ask him what they were thinking.
