Something I've always wondered when our bee inspectors are examining used equipment:

How feasible is it to find evidence of a past AFB infection in combs that lack brood? Most of the field marks I'm familiar with relate to brood specifically or the cappings on infected brood. If you were inspecting a winter deadout for instance, is it reasonable to think the scale could be found in the case of a minor infection?
