The American Association for the Advancement Sciences in its infinite wisdom is slagging honey. The Fourth Estate (Press) in it infinite wisdom and capacity for hyperbola and misinformation is running with this gem, see Popular Mechanics piece which removes most mitigating statement that were discussed in the original article.
The AAAS article talks about the decay of fallout elements and how they are concentrated more in honey because of how honey is distilled from nectar. It also implies that fallout could be responsible for the decline of the bumble bees. The worst of this contamination is focused in the southwestern USA. Some parallels with Chernobyl and drawn too.
This is the original study cited in the Nature Communication article: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-22081-8

New articles are now spawning, thought yo'all found like to be ready for the questions. My father was a Nuclear Chemical Biological Officer in the USAF. We were always interested in the spread of agents, and we often discussed scenarios of this sort.
I'd love to make some prediction of how this will get blown out of proportion in the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy your bees,
Bernie
