This, like anything in science, changes with new results, based on new techniques, &c. From 2004:
> The mating frequencies of the queens were derived from the offspring genotypes. The number of observed matings per queen ranged from 10 to 28 with an average of 17.
They did paternity tests on the workers and determined the number of different genetic lineages to deduce the number of different drones fathers. More recent work has increased the estimate, as a result of finding a much larger number of "patrilines." See:
