I wasn't trying to give that impression Bill : )
California flora, left undisturbed is well-adapted to fire, and comes
roaring back after a cool fire.
But when we suppress fire for decades, the fires now burn much hotter, and
recovery takes longer.
And what with the introduction of annual grasses, some ecosystems (such as
that of the Joshua Tree) may not recover, and be replaced by invasives.
