Last summer I saw two colonies that appeared to have EFB but tested negative with the VL kits for both EFB and AFB. I lavished a little feed on them and things turned around. Not sure what that was but perhaps Varroasis?? High mite counts can cause early brood death like that.

I did not fret about it as:

1. if it's not something I can identify, it also isn't something I can treat...the colony either gets so sick I put it down, or it recovers.

2. it did not seem to spread
