In my location, the local beekeeper saw my bees and started a
relationship. I told him the # of hives, etc. After the first year there,
I was willing to change my colony numbers to accommodate this other
apiary. We shared some info on EFB and varroa etc., and I tried to
respectfully be open to discourse. Looks like his apiary is no longer
present.
On the other side of town, a company set up a bunch of hives that
apparently all died. The company just plopped them there. I reached out
to this company via email, and they didn't bother responding to me. My
email was short introduction asking who manages the bees for the company,
etc etc.
In another location, I knew of the other beekeepers in my county and tried
to find a spot outside of their area for an apiary.
There had been some offers to keep bees near other beekeepers, but I
declined because I wanted to put more than just 1 or two colonies there,
and that would probably negatively impact those beekeepers.
