> I bought one of those microscopes...
My personal "bee lab" was equipped and furnished entirely from the offerings
at the annual "yard sale" at VA Tech, where their slightly used and no
longer state-of-the-art gear went for pennies on the dollar.
Picked up a Perkin-Elmer HPLC/MS and the host computer that drove it for
$700.00 cash. Loaded it up in the Volvo and drove home quick, before they
changed their minds.

jumping up and down.
We have those in physics often - not because we proved or disproved
anything... we do the jumping up and down and opening bottles of bubbly
simply because the apparatus is working at long last, and we can do some
actual science for a change.
