When a hobbyist beekeeper installs a package but takes little effort in
treating for mites.  Does the resultant viral load on the environment
create more harm than, say if a beekeeper maintains a large number of
colonies?

From the previous post, there may be evidence that bird predation is a
bigger factor than nutrient limitations.

This subject does appear to require more research.
