I wondered about his creds, too. Turns out that plagiarism was the rule in those days. He copied this whole section. I found a very similar passage in John Worlidge's "Systema Agriculturæ" from 1675. Not yet sure where he filched it from ... maybe Hartlib's "Reformed commonwealth of bees" (1655). -- I think they just tipped the skep back and slid the food under the cluster.
