American beekeeping is now by no means free from unscientific and ill-advised leadership, and there are still serious problems to be solved. Anyone familiar with the detailed history of American beekeeping can see the detrimental effects of poor editing of our journals which has occasionally occurred, of the choice of the wrong men as officers of our organizations, of unscientific teaching of the theory and practice of beekeeping and of ignorance of fundamentals on the part of some leaders in the craft. In some cases we can even see the prevalence of poor methods arising from the teachings of a single man.
