Thanks for the clarifications, Charlie. Your report is similar to many of
which I've heard from first-time applicators of dribble in fall--they often
overdose, and observe excessive adverse effects.
OA dribble is indeed a bit rough on bees, and in fall should only be
performed on well-fed (so that they don't consume the acidic syrup),
healthy colonies. In our own operation, we use it as a "clean up"
treatment (following having brought varroa counts close to zero by the end
of August) so that our colonies start late-winter broodrearing with a very
low residual mite population in the hive.
