Looking at all the patents applied for is an entertaining pastime. Oddly, the gizmo in question is not being patented. Wonder why? Here is an example of what is being patented:
The presently disclosed subject matter provides tritriacontene compositions for inducing hygienic behavior in honey bees; mite-infested brood extract compositions for inducing hygienic behavior in honey bees; methods of inducing hygienic behavior in honey bees; methods of selecting one or more honey bee(s) exhibiting hygienic behavior, and methods for assessing the degree of hygienic behavior within a honey bee colony.
What is claimed:
A method of inducing hygienic behavior in honey bees, the method comprising contacting hive cells with a composition comprising a tritriacontene and an agriculturally acceptable diluent or carrier, wherein the tritriacontene is in an effective amount for inducing hygienic behavior in honey bees.
