I use lacquer thinner. Seal off hive and pour a cup or so over the frames and put the lid on. Dead in minutes. Dry ice is too slow to be called humane. I would not attempt to salvage anything from an AFB hive except the boxes, bottom board, etc. which should be scorched. You could harvest the honey prior to killing them, but it may contain AFB spores, so potentially infective.
