Never smoked them, but for years I was a hard-core smoker. Youthful stupidity. 
I was , however also a hard-core gardener. I’d store cigarette butts in a coffee can, and a couple times a year make ‘nicotine tea’. 
Sprayed on flowers and certain veg, it eliminated many predatory pests. 
I would never use this in my hives, quite deadly to insects. 
Glad I’ve moved on.
