Every study that has claimed that DWV is able to replicate in varroa tissue
is based upon circumstantial evidence, not hard data, save one single
study, that suggests that DWV appeared to replicate in varroa brain tissue
(which would indicate an unusually different tissue tropism than the virus
exhibits in insects.
On the other hand, there are a number of studies that strongly indicate
that DWV does not replicate in varroa tissue, only in the bee fat body
tissue existing in the mite's gut lumen.
This is a contentious topic among those studying DWV.

study would be how to use them as an anti-viral.
