Glen objects, stating that many claim success as well as treatment free status.

This brings us back to our earlier discussion on terminology. It is impossible to have a meaningful discussion of the effect of different management practices without clearly defining the terms in use.

"Success" is not a clearly defined term. Different beekeepers call (very) different outcomes "success".

Given that circumstance, can we simply say that someone may be content with the outcome of their management? While others may not be.

It is always incumbent upon the beekeeper to define his methods, and his results, in clear and unambiguous detail. Then the listener can make informed choices in their own management.
