You may recall Randy's statement that if the local bees are actually better, then the "exotic genetics" should fall away by natural selection. If the imports are successful due to whatever traits they possess, then the suggestion that native bees are "better" would be invalidated. Natural selection doesn't distinguish between local and exotic, only conservationists and anti-immigrant groups do.
