PLB: " It says at the top late fall and early spring -- only. Top bar beekeepers should take the honey combs that they want to eat away before they treat. What am I missing?"
You're missing out on a career as a meteorologist! I don't know what the weather's going to do over winter here in the UK. The bees might need all their stored honey or little of it. I take what I know to have been surplus to their requirements in the Spring when the dandelions and willows are flowering. I know it's pure honey (+ oxalic?) as I don't feed them.
