<><><> All the plastic frames I've come across are ribbed to make the frames much lighter but still maintain structural strength. That's great but those structural modifications make great hiding places for SHBs (small hive beetle). Even the grooves in grooved top bars provide hiding places for SHBs in my experience. That is why I'm still inclined to continue to use the old solid wood frames.
