Insect Epigenetics
Edited by Heleen Verlinden"
I don't know whether to thank you for pointing out this reference, or complain because I'm going to have to buy it.
I've mulled over the whole epigenetics issue and wondered:
1) Dr. Sarah Lee Visscher, one of my mentors, spent her whole career studying what she called 'maternal' influence on offspring of Aulocara elliotti, the Big Headed Grasshopper. and
2) Other mentors had extensive experience with migratory locusts.
So when this 'new' term popped up, I wondered whether this was new or just a renaming. Gladly, I see that one of the chapters in this cited reference addresses epigenetics, mechanisms of migratory locusts.
So, I put this in the list of renamed phenomena that were studied by my mentors and colleagues:
Global Warming changed to Climate Change
Air Pollution Damage changed to Acid Rain Damage
Artificial Insemination changed to Instrumental Insemination
And the list goes on.
But, I'm glad to see that my mentors were studying epigenetics 50 years ago.
