> Anyway, I need some experienced feedback about cut-down splits, or queenless honey production.
I've done a fair amount of experimentation with cut-down splits, and found the following:
- Honey production is more or less the same, not more as some claim.
BUT
- I get a brood break- I get a Nuc.
A Longtime keeper in my area warned me that queenless hives don't build comb, but it's plausible enough that I've not tested it - Only drawn comb is provided to hives I'm cutting down.
Beekeeping is full of unforgiving tradeoffs, but this is as close to a free lunch as it gets.
