I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one Pete. Shifting from
counting all reporting apiaries to only those with 5 or more hives is
hardly whimsical. I've spent some time lately speaking with the guy in
charge of one of the NASS surveys. NASS really wants to do a good job, and
produce meaningful figures. He didn't sound whimsical at all, and would
likely feel insulted by that comment.
And again I must ask to how the way that the number of hives is counted has
anything to do with the calculated per-hive yield.
