What does this mean in terms of killing mites?  That is an entirely different question and the acid strength is probably not the only factor involved in killing mites.  So, the formic acid could be real important even thou it is the weaker acid.

One wonders if the formic ability to penetrate the cappings is the thinking or the key.

FYI  there is a US researcher working on a combo treatment also,  he presented last year at the CSBA,  I think he was guided to separate the functions so it would be 2 treatments with different actions,  but no clue if he actually headed that way,  but I do know he received more funder to continue the work.  I will refrain from any discussion on it as I am not qualified,  and would mess it up!
