I test the wing patterns of most of my bees and often see a relationship
between cubital index and gentleness but haven't detected any similar
correlation between discoidal shift and gentleness. Last summer Bangor
University did a survey of about 30 randomly selected colonies in my
part of North Wales and tested them for gentleness 3 times during the
season and took wing samples each time to look for correlations. The
exercise was a small scale undergraduate project so there was not enough
time to analyse more samples but the results might, never the less, show
a statistically significant effect.
