A pollen trap typically traps about half the incoming pollen, so if you're trapping less than 225 g per day, pollen trapping will likely cause the colony to restrict broodrearing.
It seems that if you leave the traps in place, the recruitment changes. Casual observation shows no decline in hives with pollen traps, but less honey production. Seems like it’s a choice for either or.
