From 1995 through 2001 I did research with bees on Aberdeen Proving Ground-Edgewood, 16 miles north of Baltimore.
Cheapest for me, fly to Florida, rent a Budget or National Van, drive to Moultrie, GA; stay the night, load the next morning, and head north.
As per insurance, I covered that by my business insurance.
Far cheaper (from MT) and a lot easier on the driver (me). I did have one bad experience, I had plane connection problems, leading to a long day, then Fred had a delay getting the load sorted, so I got out of Moultrie later than expected. When I got to Grey, GA, I was nodding off. Normally I made the 800 mile trip in one shot. But I wasn't safe driving. Not a lot of options in Gray FL. The room I got lived up to the name, dingy, gray, dim light, sagging bed. It was out of the truck, fall into bed, wake up next morning a bit afraid of seeing the room in the daylight. If the room lights had been brighter, I highly suspect I would have seen six-legged critters running for cover. At least no bed bugs.
