Hi all
I found it interesting that he has a long section on the Building Frame. I have used this and can attest to its value. The chief difference is that he places the frame at the wall and has a window so you can look at the building frame whereas I place the frame in the 2nd or 3rd position because sometimes colonies are not apt to occupy the frames closest to the wall, unless overly crowded. Other than that, I think the observations using the building frame are highly accurate. To me, the effort of opening the hive and looking at the building frame, is not that great. Good read!

the building frame ... originally called it the hive barometer ...
Whatever one calls it, its main purpose is to inform us of what is happening within the hive
But to watch alone is not sufficient, one must understand what one sees.
