Manley Frames and Omlet hives are UK based products. The Omlet is the plastic version of the Dartington Long Hive. Robin Dartington is a member of BEE-L and so could be consulted directly or I could pass on message (he lives about 1 mile from me). You don't have to use Manley frames in the supers. There are other thinner frames e.g. using SN1 side bars which are 22mm wide - see https://www.thorne.co.uk/frames-and-foundations/frames/frame-parts/bs-frame-parts . The rationale for the Manley which is that the side bars are about thickness of the comb and so uncapping with a knife is easy - just run the knife along resting on the frame edges of each side.
