Thanks Jerry, I try to be careful to describe only what works for me in the
Sierra foothills. And although the Grizzzly Bear is on the California
state flag, it was long ago hunted to extinction in the State (how's that
for hypocrisy?). Tougher bears call for tougher measures.
I'm quite familiar with the livestock panels--I use them tepee style for
growing tomatoes, cukes, beans, and squash--would never go back to cages or
trellises. They sound like a great idea for bears too.
When we electrify and enclosure with an existing steel fence, we set it up
similarly to how you describe--grounding the fence and adding a hot wire.
People are often amazed by how a bear can tear down a non electrified fence.
