So why such a small swarm?  Tortilla size, perhaps an
inch thick.  Any SWAGs out there?

I will give it two stabs in the dark.  1) it is an absconding swarm that originated from a hive with little to no food resources or 2) a reproductive swarm where by the brood nest was restricted to one frame and on either side a solid frame of CAPPED honey and or a solid frame of pollen.

swag... I have not seen that jargon in a while.
