It works well for mite kill we've seen dead mites piled on the tape that covers entrances. I don't reccomend using it twice on a hive a season or using it after September first in the north as you burn off any open larvae and it takes time for the hive to recover. 

I only use it when mite loads are extreme like more then 20-30 per wash. Not a system I would use on small hives or in the spring. If you follow their advice you won't lose any queens
