Michael Bush spoke last month about "Natural Beekeeping" at the Missouri
State Beekeepers conference. One of the points he made was that sugar syrup
is bad for bees because it has a pH of about 6, compared to about 3.2 to 4.5
for honey.
Someone asked the question, "What is the pH of nectar?" He could not answer,
but that seems to me an important question. Does anyone here know? For that
matter, what is the pH of sugar syrup that has been reduced and capped for
storage?
