You guys have co-opted this thread. It wasn't about the size of the brood nest, but since you are on about it, I submit there are three main styles of brood nest. 1) the old school two brood box plus queen excluder; 20 one story for brood, excluder and supers; 3) no queen excluder. Personally, I fall into the third camp. But the key is not which hive is best but how you manage them. Each requires a different approach and presumably each will produce good results. Except my way, which is the best ;-)
