"This study demonstrated that ATSB applied to non- flowering vegetation, or
to bait stations in sub-tropical environments, would have very little impact
on non-targets while still controlling mosquito populations. However, when
the ASB was applied to non-flowering vegetation or in bait stations,
non-target insect populations were not attracted and did not feed on sugar
solution."
Thanks Peter. I'm still troubled by so much stained honey in my hives which
seems to refute the finding. The sugar water was not applied to any blooming
plants; only to tree leaves. The bees easily found it and harvested it. Had
it been laced with a pesticide, I can imagine the hives would have been set
back or become dead out. All 6 hives had substantial quantities of red syrup
sufficient to make the honey harvested bright red. When the study is
complete, where do you recommend it be posted so that a wider audience might
read it?
